Air Canada's cargo revenue increased by 10% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2025, mainly due to demand in the Pacific and Latin American markets.

The total freight revenue for the second quarter was 253 million Canadian dollars, compared to 230 million Canadian dollars in the second quarter of 2024.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the revenue of the freight department also increased by 13% in the first six months of this year.

The airline stated in its management discussion and analysis document for the second quarter that "this growth is attributed to increased traffic in the Pacific market, as well as year-on-year increases in returns in the Pacific and Latin American markets

Due to changes in tariffs, shippers' decision to load goods in advance can also help increase freight revenue.

Air Canada added, "Compared to the same period last year, shipping activity has increased due to shippers adapting to changes in tariff deadlines and changes in US duty-free rules for low value goods

Although Air Canada performed well in the cargo markets of the Pacific and Latin America, Atlantic Airlines' revenue remained flat in the second quarter.

The operating revenue of the entire airline was 5.5 billion US dollars, an increase of 2% compared to last year.

Michael Rousseau, President and CEO of Air Canada, said: 'From an operational perspective, we had a very good spring, leading all major North American airlines in on-time performance in May and June, which corresponds to strong growth in customer service scores.'.

While dealing with macroeconomic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, we have maintained discipline and consistency in executing our long-term plan, which is rooted in Air Canada's validated business strategy.

We have strategically shifted our capacity towards high demand markets and leveraged the breadth and strength of our global network to capture the demand for high-quality services. The strong performance of Air Canada Cargo, Air Canada Vacation, and Air Canada has further enhanced our performance, all of which are key pillars of our diversified business

In this quarter's investor introduction document, Air Canada stated that, among other goals, it will focus on achieving "strict and flexible capacity management to match demand" and expanding its "Latin American flight plan to fully utilize passenger demand and cargo opportunities".

Air Canada has confirmed that as of June 30th, the company has six Boeing 767 freighters in service. This airline has a total fleet of 364 aircraft.

Air Canada's freight revenue increased by 16% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, due to shippers loading goods in advance to avoid the cost of increased tariffs.
