The direct international air cargo route from Urumqi to Urgenchi has been officially launched
On August 4th, after being inspected and released by the customs of Urumqi Tianshan Airport in Xinjiang, a fully loaded cargo plane carrying 50.6 tons of light industrial products such as clothing, bags, and artificial bionic flowers took off from Urumqi Tianshan International Airport for Urgenchi in the northwest of Uzbekistan, marking the successful maiden flight of the Urumqi-Urgenchi international cargo route.
This route is operated by Uzbekistan Central Asia Airlines and is scheduled to run two flights per week. The opening of this route will become another efficient logistics link connecting China with the hinterland of Central Asia, further weaving a dense "air Silk Road" for Urumqi to reach and radiate the Central Asian market.
The Urumqi-Urgenchi route is the third all-cargo route between China and Uzbekistan after the Urumqi-Tashkent cargo route on January 13, 2025 and the Urumqi-Navoi cargo route on July 3, 2025. It is also the second all-cargo route between China and Uzbekistan operated by Uzbekistan's Central Asia Airlines.
A relevant official from Tianshan Airport Customs introduced that in order to ensure the successful maiden flight of the new cargo route, the customs has established a "three-party linkage" mechanism in advance with airlines and freight forwarders, carried out "one enterprise, one policy" policy guidance, helped enterprises enjoy policy dividends, reduced customs clearance costs, and formulated supervision plans, providing "7× 24-hour" appointment customs clearance services, and implementing convenient measures such as "immediate inspection of goods upon arrival". The customs clearance efficiency has been improved.

Urgenchi, as an important transportation hub in the northwest of Uzbekistan, connects many countries in Central and South Asia. The opening of this route will further improve the logistics channel between China and Ukraine, provide enterprises with more diverse transportation options, significantly shorten the transportation time of goods between the two places, and help enhance the quality and efficiency of business and trade exchanges between Central Asian countries and China.

In light of the cargo characteristics of the Central Asia routes, it continuously optimizes the supervision process, promotes the facilitation of cross-border e-commerce trade, and helps enterprises expand their overseas business.
Up to now, Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has opened 27 international cargo routes, covering many key node cities in Central Asia, West Asia and Europe. This year, 11 new regular cargo routes and 3 resumed operations, building an efficient and convenient "air bridge" for the development of the Urumqi area of China (Xinjiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
