How to handle extremely large and heavy goods for international air transportation?

In the international air freight scenario, regular general cargo has fixed size and weight limits. Special goods such as oversized and overweight equipment, industrial accessories, and large machinery cannot be transported through the ordinary conventional air freight channels. Many shippers often struggle with the choice of transportation methods. Currently, there are two main transportation schemes for oversized and overweight goods: full cargo plane belly cabin transportation and whole aircraft charter transportation. These two schemes have vastly different scenarios, costs, and restrictions. Choosing the right method can significantly reduce logistics risks and costs.

Firstly, clearly define the cargo classification criteria. In the industry, goods that are single-piece extremely long, extremely wide, single-piece weight exceeds 3 tons, or the overall volume exceeds the loading limit of the passenger aircraft belly cabin are defined as oversized and overweight goods. The regular passenger aircraft belly cabin is the most basic air freight channel. Its advantages are high flight frequency, wide route coverage, and low unit cost, which is 5%-15% cheaper than charter flights, suitable for small-sized overweight goods. However, the shortcomings are obvious. The passenger aircraft belly cabin has no large opening and cannot load extremely long and wide equipment. The single-piece load capacity and volume are strictly limited, and the loading priority is lower than passenger luggage.
