International sea freight rates within Asia will increase by 5% in early September 2025
According to the Japan International Freight Forwarders Association (JIFFA), the Drewry Asia Internal Container Index (IACI) rose by 5% in the first half of September to $611 per FEU. This ratio is still 9% lower than that of the same period last year. Drewry expects freight rates to remain stable in the second half of this month.
Spot exchange rates on major routes have fluctuated. The prices for Busan - Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City - Shanghai remain the same, at $98 and $39 per TEU respectively. The price between Jakarta and Shanghai has dropped by 15% to $35 per standard container.
Shanghai - jawaharlal Nehru rose 17% to $1,663; Shanghai - Singapore rose 4% to $767. Shanghai - Tanjung Pelepas dropped 10% to $922. The Shanghai-Yokohama route rose by 2% to $761 and by 7% to $77 per standard container.
