Air China resumes its cargo route from Shanghai to Los Angeles
At around 18:00 on October 26, 2025, on the first day of the civil aviation winter and spring season, CA8419 flight loaded with 98 tons of cargo successfully took off from Shanghai Pudong Airport and headed to Los Angeles, marking the official resumption of China Cargo Airlines' "Shanghai Los Angeles" international cargo route. This trans Pacific route, operated by Boeing 777 all cargo aircraft and planned to operate 7 flights per week, is not only a key layout for Air China to strengthen its logistics network between China and the United States, but also an important pivot for Shanghai International Air Cargo Hub to enhance its trans Pacific transportation capacity.

1、 Core of resuming flights: dual guarantee of high-capacity aircraft and intensive flights
The route resumed this time has shown significant advantages in capacity configuration and operating frequency, accurately matching the logistics needs of Sino US trade.
In terms of aircraft selection, Air China has specially deployed Boeing 777 all cargo aircraft to operate this route, with a maximum cargo capacity of 98 tons per flight, which is 23% higher than the commonly used Boeing 747 aircraft before the epidemic. The investment of this high-capacity aircraft model can efficiently carry bulk goods such as mechanical and electrical products, textiles, furniture, as well as precision goods such as semiconductor equipment and high-end components exported from the Yangtze River Delta region to North America. A single flight can meet the cross-border transportation needs of nearly 100 tons of goods.
In terms of operating frequency, the fixed flight schedule of 7 flights per week has formed a stable air transportation channel. This density complements the existing Sino US cargo flight network at Shanghai Pudong Airport - currently, there are nearly 109 weekly cargo flights from Pudong Airport to the United States, covering core hubs such as Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. The addition of intensive flights by Air China has further improved the cargo turnover efficiency and service stability of this route.
