The international cargo port of Zhuhai Airport has been put into operation, with the first charter flight flying directly to Hanoi
On August 27th, the first international cargo charter flight took off from Zhuhai Airport, carrying goods such as automotive parts and electronic products from major cities in the Pearl River Delta. It flew directly from Zhuhai to Hanoi, Vietnam, in just 2 hours. So far, the international cargo port of Zhuhai Airport was officially opened, and the first fully functional international air cargo hub was ushered in on the west bank of the the Pearl River Estuary.
This first flight is carried by SF Airlines, with a total of 18 tons of goods mainly including automotive parts, 3C electronic products and semi-finished products, shoes and clothing directly shipped from factories in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. According to sources from SF Airlines, flying goods from Zhuhai to Vietnam in western Guangdong can shorten the time by more than 2 hours compared to detouring to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and can save about 10% of logistics costs.
From the start of construction to the approval of temporary opening, the port only took 6 months, setting a new record for the opening of China's civil aviation cargo port, "said the person in charge of Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Commerce. As the core air cargo hub on the west coast of the Greater Bay Area, Zhuhai Airport International Freight Port is located on the west side of Terminal 1 of the airport and the south side of the cargo station in the Airport International Smart Logistics Park. The designed annual cargo handling capacity is 150000 tons, which can achieve "immediate inspection upon arrival" of goods.
Zhuhai has a three-dimensional transportation network of "sea, land, air, and rail", relying on the Hong Kong Zhuhai Macao Bridge to achieve linkage with the "one hour aviation circle" of Hong Kong and Macao airports, and quickly connect to the global network. As the location of Zhuhai Airport, Jinwan District has been continuously cultivating the integrated development track of "aviation+industry" in recent years, and has formed a characteristic industrial cluster with new energy, aerospace, and biomedicine as the core. Relying on functional platforms such as Gaolan Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone, it provides comprehensive logistics services such as air cargo, cross-border transportation, and bonded warehousing for enterprises.
The opening of the international cargo port at Zhuhai Airport this time can build an "air express line" for the import of raw materials and the export of finished products for key industries in Zhuhai Jinwan and even the entire Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, shortening the logistics cycle of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. Especially with the "day passenger and night cargo" staggered mode at Zhuhai Airport, it can provide sufficient nighttime transportation capacity to meet high efficiency demands such as fresh produce and emergency goods. Relying on this port, Zhuhai has taken the lead in building a 4-hour logistics aviation circle in Southeast Asia, achieving "overnight departure and morning arrival" for international freight.
Next, Zhuhai Airport will strive to open more Asian and intercontinental all cargo routes. By accelerating the building of an air cargo hub on the west bank of the the Pearl River River Estuary "based on the bay area, connecting Hong Kong and Macao, and radiating to the world", we will focus on building a Zhuxi international logistics corridor with Jinwan, Zhuhai as an important transit place, to provide efficient logistics channels for high-end manufacturing, biomedicine, cross-border e-commerce and other high-value industries.
