The Port of Gothenburg maintained strong growth in the first half of this year, handling 470,000 TEUs. Due to the increase in the proportion of fully loaded containers and the reduction in the repositioning of empty containers, its efficiency has been enhanced. The Port of Gothenburg

Meanwhile, the volume of railway transportation entering and leaving the port of Gothenburg reached a record high, consolidating Gothenburg's position as a major logistics hub in Scandinavia.

Growth is driven by inland terminals across Sweden, including those in the north, south and east. The Stockholm area alone recorded a 4% increase, with over 30,000 TEUs handled by rail in the first half of this year.

Claes Sundmark, vice president of sales and marketing at the Port of Gothenburg, commented that the fact that they are handling more loaded containers while managing fewer empty ones reflects higher efficiency throughout the entire logistics chain.

APM Terminals, which operates the port's container terminal, had its best month ever in July, handling 47,805 TEUs. This record will be reflected in the next quarterly report.

This momentum is supported by new services: CMA CGM has launched the Gothenburg-Baltic route, and Maersk and Herberger have introduced new direct routes to and from Asia.

The leading position of railways in inland transportation has been further consolidated. In the first six months of this year, railway transportation volume increased by 4%, and over 60% of containerized goods are now transported by train.

In the first half of this year, the port also received 16 cruise ships docking, which was lower than the record 26 last year.
